HTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the specific educational qualifications for the level they wish to appear for. The eligibility criteria are divided into three levels:
Level 1: Primary Teacher (PRT) – Classes I to V
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks.
- Professional Qualification: Passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) / JBT / D.Ed OR 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- Matriculation: Hindi or Sanskrit as a subject in Matriculation (Class 10) or Higher.
Level 2: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Classes VI to VIII
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor Degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks.
- Professional Qualification: B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) or 2-year D.El.Ed / BTC / JBT.
- Subject Requirement: For TGT Science, Math, Social Science, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, etc., candidates must have studied the specific subject as an elective in their graduation.
Level 3: Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) – Classes IX to XII
- Educational Qualification: Master Degree in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
- Professional Qualification: B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) degree.
- Matriculation: Hindi or Sanskrit as one of the subjects in Matric or Higher Education.
HTET 2026 Exam Pattern
The HTET exam is an offline (Pen and Paper) test using OMR sheets. The exam duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes for each level. There is NO Negative Marking in the exam.
