CUT OFF & QUALIFYING MARKS
Understanding the cut-off marks is crucial. The final cut-off marks are usually determined based on the number of vacancies and the performance of candidates. However, the official notification specifies minimum qualifying marks that a candidate must score in Tier 1 to be even considered for the merit list. Below are the details regarding minimum qualifying marks and expected cut-off marks based on exam analysis.
MINIMUM QUALIFYING MARKS
These are the baseline scores set by the IB. Candidates scoring below these marks in Tier 1 will not be considered for shortlisting, regardless of their category rank.
- UR / EWS: 35 Marks
- OBC: 34 Marks
- SC / ST: 33 Marks
Please note: Scoring just the minimum qualifying marks does not guarantee selection. You must clear the final merit-based cut-off.
EXPECTED TIER 1 CUT OFF
Based on the difficulty level of the exam held in September 2025 and previous years’ trends, here are the expected cut-off marks required to secure a place in the Tier 1 merit list for different categories.
- General (UR): 62 – 66 Marks
- OBC: 60 – 64 Marks
- EWS: 60 – 63 Marks
- SC: 52 – 58 Marks
- ST: 50 – 55 Marks
WHAT AFTER TIER 1? (NEXT STAGES)
Congratulations to all the candidates who have successfully cleared the Tier 1 examination! If your roll number is in the merit list PDF, here is what you need to prepare for next in the selection process.
- Tier 2 Exam: This will be a Descriptive Type exam. For the post of Security Assistant/Executive, it will involve translation of a passage from a local language/dialect to English and vice versa, and a test of spoken ability. For MTS, it will be a test of English Language and Comprehension. The marks obtained in Tier 2 for SA/Exe post are qualifying in nature (minimum 20 out of 50), while for MTS, marks will be counted for the final merit list.
- New Admit Card Will Be Issued: A fresh admit card indicating the date, time, and venue for the Tier 2 examination will be issued to all shortlisted candidates. Keep a close watch on the official website for updates regarding the Tier 2 admit card.
- Document Verification: While the primary document verification happens at later stages, it is always advisable to keep all your original documents and certificates (educational qualifications, caste certificate, domicile, etc.) ready as per the requirements mentioned in the official notification.
- Tier 3 (Interview/Personality Test): Only for the post of Security Assistant/Executive. Candidates shortlisted after Tier 2 will be called for an interview.
We recommend starting your preparation for the translation and descriptive part of the Tier 2 exam immediately.
